Loving Nothing (1995 monologue)
Cynthia wrote and performed in Loving Nothing, featured with notable monologuists Josh Kornbluth and Anne Galjour at “The First Ever Speakeasy Salon”, produced by The Speakeasy Theatre Company, Berkeley, California. Loving Nothing premiered as a commissioned piece for the series “All Googley-Eyed – Women Writing About Love” at Buddy Valentine’s (formerly Keith Carollo) Build Performance Space, San Francisco, California.
The monologue links the stories of real-life lone ballerina Marta Becket, who performs for an audience painted on the walls of a small opera house in Death Valley, and Cynthia’s childhood crush on the cartoon character Speed Racer, suggesting that fantasy is often more fulfilling than the real thing.
